Dispute prevention and resolution for real people, real business and real estate.

Why Choose RealMediations?

Choosing a mediator can be a difficult task, but if you compare mediators on the important issues, we’re confident that RealMediations will be among your top choices. Here’s why:

Experience
It’s very important that your mediator understands the problems you’re facing in your dispute and can help you sort out complex and confusing issues. When you hire RealMediations, you’re getting John Monahan, an accomplished mediator with over 20 years of business, commercial real estate and community service experience, and a dedication to the highest standards of mediation practice.

Responsiveness
At RealMediations, we realize that disputes can consume tremendous amounts of time and money, and we stand ready to respond quickly, so that you can move on with your life or business. Mediations can often be scheduled within days of your first call, and evening and weekend mediations are possible. We also understand that it may be more practical to meet at a client’s (or their attorney’s) office, and we are open to travel anywhere on the west coast or beyond.

Flexibility
Every dispute is unique, and resolution of the dispute may require unique approaches. Some clients prefer to meet privately with the mediator, and have him/her "shuttle" back and forth between disputants. Others feel more comfortable if everyone remains together in open session. In many cases, it’s a combination of both approaches. Some clients want their attorneys to represent them in mediation. Others want to speak for themselves. Still others want to have their attorney available for consultation before making any major decisions. At RealMediations, we’re ready to do what works.

Confidentiality
If you don’t want your friends, neighbors or business associates to know that you are in a dispute or the outcome of the dispute, a courtroom is not a good place to resolve it. One of the tremendous advantages of mediation is the confidential nature of the process. Under California’s Evidence Code, mediators cannot be compelled to testify in court, nor can communications between participants in a mediation be subject to discovery or admissible in court. RealMediations fully respects the confidentiality of all parties.
